ABOUT ME
Putting My Experience
to Work
I have been a public high school math teacher for over 20 years and I also teach a course titled Developing Black Historical Conscience. I currently teach at Breckinridge Metropolitan High School in Louisville, Kentucky. I am a proud local and national union leader who has served as a Board of Director for both Jefferson County Teachers Association and the Kentucky Education Association. I currently serves as the Ethnic Minority Director for the National Council of Urban Education Associations where I facilitate racial dialogue and professional development to national education leaders.
I have been featured twice in the magazine titled NEA Today. One feature promoted an initiative I co-authored that instructs NEA to create a minority recruitment and training program across multiple states in our nation. The second publication highlighted math teachers who incorporate social justice in their lessons. I am a staunch advocate for the eradication of systemic racism by challenging the legitimacy of standardized testing on a national level and by demanding that minorities be represented in areas of educational leadership and local government.
