Rashad gets reinstated/restorative justice

Kumar Rashad, a Jefferson County Public Schools math teacher and former Kentucky High School Teacher of the Year, was reassigned from classroom duties in October after an incident at Breckinridge Metropolitan High School. Rashad said he intervened when he saw two male students attacking a female student, and a complaint from those students led to his reassignment. On January 11, 2024, Rashad held a press conference announcing that he had been reinstated to his teaching position and would return to the classroom the following day.
